The Elmezzi Foundation provides children and their families in Astoria and Long Island City, New York critical support by funding neighborhood programs and organizations. After careful compilation of all the family programs offered in the area, Elmezzi wanted to share their findings. They had visions of creating a valuable resource for local residents, but didn’t know how to package all of the data. Intend was tasked with clearly communicating a vast amount of information, while appealing to a diverse audience.
The Family Youth Guide was designed to share information about local programs for families. There are over 120 programs listed and each program is plotted on one of eight maps that correspond to the different sections found in the book. A set of icons was created to quickly let people know each of the programs’ activities and details. Through the use of color-coding, mapping and iconography, Intend Creative delivered a user-friendly guide and set the groundwork for future editions.
“Working with Intend Creative to develop our Family Youth Guide proved to be a very positive experience. The team quickly understood our needs and vision for the guide and was able to seamlessly integrate our basic ideas into a clean, streamlined and unique publication. Not only did they meet every deadline, they delivered on their promise to keep us on budget, without skimping on quality. Overall, Intend Creative was a pleasure to work with and I would highly recommend them to any nonprofit in search of a talented, organized and civic-minded design team!”
